Biography
Dr. Alvarez completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Michigan in 2020 after obtaining his Doctor of Medicine degree from the same institution in 2013. He completed additional training in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement sponsored by the National Center for Patient Safety while practicing General Surgery at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. He is currently pursuing additional training in the MIS management of obesity and foregut diseases at University Hospital – Case Western Reserve University. His clinical interests encompass the surgical management of obesity and foregut diseases. His academic work focuses on understanding metabolic surgery, its outcomes, and those barriers impacting patient access to this treatment with the goal of making the surgical management of obesity readily available and accessible to patients in need.
