Biography

Rachel is board certified family nurse practitioner with over 15 years experience in the field of bariatric medicine. She is currently part of a large, multi-hospital, multidisciplinary medical and surgical bariatric program with Beaumont Health in southeast Michigan.

Rachel has experience with development and management of multidisciplinary bariatric programs with a strong background in clinical expertise in the field of bariatric surgery. In addition to providing patient education, she has experience with bariatric nursing education for hospital and office based clinical staff. She has been a consultant for allied health professionals in managing the LAP-BAND System patient. She has also been a speaker for several professional events including ASMBS annual education conferences, LAP-BAND Total Care Workshops and the Michigan Bariatric Society’s Annual Meeting.

Rachel received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Valley State University in 2000. In 2005, she obtained a Masters of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is also a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and is a board member for this society.
