Biography
Dr. Stacy Brethauer is a bariatric surgeon and Professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he is the Vice Chair of Surgery for Quality and Patient Safety and the Medical Director of Supply Chain Management.
He completed residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and fellowship at Cleveland Clinic where he remained on the faculty for 13 years prior to joining the department of surgery at Ohio State.
He has held numerous leadership roles in ASMBS, is past-president of the society and co-chairs the Quality Committee for MBSAQIP. He serves as the ASMBS representative on the General Surgery Board of the American Board of Surgery and is currently on the Steering Committee for development of the Focused Practice Designation for bariatric and metabolic surgery.
Dr. Brethauer has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, over 40 book chapters and has edited four textbooks on bariatric surgery and quality in obesity care.
