Description
The laparoscopic adjustable gastric band (LAGB) course will focus on optimizing LAGB management and identifying potential complications associated with LAGB placement. Individuals with LAGBs often face unique challenges with behavioral health, nutrition, band fills, and potential anatomical or device-related complications. This course will discuss LAGB maintenance with the goal of preventing LAGB complications. Symptoms, diagnostics, and treatment options associated with LAGB complications will be reviewed by our surgeon experts.
Learnning Objectives
- To understand the role that adjustable gastric band plays in weight control.
- To understand strategies available to optimize outcomes of weight loss and health improvement after gastric banding.
- To appreciate an algorithmic approach in evaluating when the gastric band should be maintained, when adjuvant therapy is beneficial or when a surgical conversion is required.
