Biography

He specializes in bariatric and metabolic surgery, performs laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, which he pioneered in 2000, lap RNY bypass performed in 1995 at the Cleveland Clinic, as well as laparoscopic duodenal switch, which he was the first to perform in 1999 in Mount Sinai NYC, and various new innovative endoscopic magnetic treatments for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and gastrointestinal tract disorders.

He was Chief of laparoscopy at the Cleveland Clinic, Professor of surgery and chief of laparoscopic/bariatric surgery at Mount Sinai NY, Professor of surgery and chief of bariatric surgery at Cornell University, Chair of Surgery at Mount Sinai (Miami), and is currently senior consultant at Hospital du Sacre Coeur in Montreal, chief of surgery at the WSSC, and Chief Medical officer of GT Metabolic Solutions, Inc.
