Biography
Dr. Mona Misra is a Board Certified, Fellowship trained highly experienced and skilled Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon. She has performed over 3,000 bariatric, advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic surgical procedures. She has presented research findings at numerous national and international meetings on advanced laparoscopic techniques and metabolic surgery.
Currently, Dr. Misra is the Associate Director of the Bariatric Program at Cedars Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital, CA. She is the Director of the Bariatric Program at Beverly Hills Physicians. Additionally, Dr. Misra is an Expert Clinical Site Reviewer for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program for the American College of Surgeons. She has been on the ASMBS Program Committee for many years and is currently the Co-Chair of the Program Committee. She will be the Chair of the Program Committee 2021-2022.
Her excellence in Bariatrics has been recognized by being awarded the “Top Doc Award” 2018, 2019, and 2020, as well as the Doctors’ Choice Awards’ Winner for 2016 and 2017. She also won the prestigious Women of Distinction Award in 2016.
Following her fellowship training in Bariatric Surgery at the world-famous Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Dr. Misra returned to Canada, where she was the Associate Director of the Bariatric Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital, McMaster University. Additionally, she was the Director and Co-Founder of the Canadian Institute of Bariatric Options (CIBO) which is one of the first Canadian comprehensive multidisciplinary outpatient weight loss programs that involves surgical, medical, psychological, nutritional, and fitness programs.
Dr. Misra provides her patients access to the most advanced and highly specialized techniques to treat their disease of obesity in Southern California. She offers Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, LapBand, Intragastric Balloon, Gastric Bypass, and Revisional Surgery. Dr. Misra places great emphasis on treating the individual patient. She understands that obesity is a complex disease and each patient may need something just a bit different at each visit to help them achieve their goals safely and permanently. She takes the time to explain everything to her patients, in plain English, making them feel special and comfortable with the process that will change and improve their lives forever.
